AI Interview – Getting Started

This document explains what an AI Interview is, how it works in WeCP, and how you can create and invite candidates to your first AI interview.

What is an AI Interview?

An AI Interview lets you automatically interview candidates using an AI interviewer—without scheduling live calls.

Instead of a human interviewer, an AI agent asks structured, role-specific questions, follows up based on candidate responses, and captures detailed insights for review.

AI Interviews are best used when you want to:

  • Screen a large number of candidates quickly

  • Reduce scheduling and interviewer effort

  • Get consistent, unbiased first-round interviews

  • Evaluate both technical depth and communication skills


How does an AI Interview work?

At a high level, the AI Interview flow looks like this:

  1. You define the role and expectations (via prompt or job description)

  2. AI generates an interview plan and relevant questions

  3. Candidates attend the interview at their convenience

  4. The AI interviewer conducts the interview end-to-end

  5. You review interview recordings and AI-generated insights

The interview typically includes:

  • Warm greeting and role context

  • Experience and skill-based questions

  • Role-fit and situational questions

  • Candidate-specific follow-ups

  • A structured wrap-up


How to create your first AI Interview

Step 1: Start a new evaluation

From the Tests dashboard, click Start evaluation.

You’ll see two options:

  • AI Assessment

  • AI Interview

Select AI Interview to continue.


Step 2: Describe who the AI interviewer is meeting

You’ll land on a prompt input screen where you can define the interview context.

You can:

  • Write a free-text prompt describing the role

  • Attach a job description

  • Pick from suggested roles to get started quickly

Example prompt:

Create an AI interview plan for an AI Engineer with 5 years of experience in IT. Emphasize machine learning, deep learning frameworks, data pipeline design, and model deployment in production.

As you add details, WeCP automatically detects and tags:

  • Job role

  • Skills

  • Experience

  • Industry and nature of work (if provided)

💡 Tip: Adding more context (industry, seniority, role expectations) helps AI generate more accurate interviews.


Step 3: Review and customize interview questions

Once you click Create interview, AI analyzes your input and generates a set of interview questions.

These questions are based on:

  • The job description or prompt

  • Required skills and experience

  • General role-fit and motivation checks

At this stage, you can:

  • Review all suggested questions

  • Remove questions you don’t need

  • Add custom questions

When you’re satisfied, continue to create the interview.


Step 4: Review the interview plan

After creation, your AI Interview plan is ready.

Here you can:

  • See the AI interviewer (video + voice)

  • Choose or change the interviewer’s voice

  • View the overall interview structure

If you click See interview plan, a side panel opens showing:

  • How the interview will be conducted

  • The sequence of interview sections

  • The questions generated from your input

⚠️ Currently, the interview plan is view-only. Editing the plan directly is not available yet.


Step 5: Configure candidate & integrity experience

Next, move to the Integrity & experience step.

Here you can configure:

Candidate experience

  • Interview window (when candidates can take the interview)

  • Number of attempts allowed

  • Welcome message for candidates

  • Allowed device (desktop only)

Integrity experience

  • Proctoring and monitoring level

  • Safeguards to reduce cheating

These settings control how secure and smooth the interview experience is for candidates.


Step 6: Invite candidates

Once everything is set up, go to the Candidates tab.

From here, you can:

  • Invite candidates via email

  • Preview the interview before sending

  • Track interview status and participation

After candidates complete the interview, performance insights and recordings will appear here.


What happens for the candidate?

Candidates:

  • Join the interview from their browser

  • Interact with the AI interviewer through voice

  • Answer questions and follow-ups in real time

  • Complete the interview in a single session

No scheduling or human coordination is required.


What do recruiters get after the interview?

After completion, you can access:

  • Interview recordings

  • Candidate responses

  • AI-generated insights and performance signals

This helps you make faster, more informed screening decisions.
