To make sure both your microphone and camera are functioning correctly for the assessment, please follow these steps to configure both your system and browser settings.

1. Check Audio and Video Input in Browser Settings

  1. Open Browser Settings:

    • Google Chrome: Click the three dots in the upper-right corner, go to Settings, then Privacy and security, and select Site settings.

    • Firefox: Click the three lines in the upper-right corner, go to Settings, then Privacy & Security, and scroll to the Permissions section.

  2. Adjust Permissions:

    • Microphone: Ensure your preferred microphone is selected and the browser has permission to access it.

    • Camera: Similarly, please ensure your preferred camera is selected and the browser has permission to access it.

2. Verify Audio and Video Settings in Your System

For Windows:

  • Microphone:

    • Go to Settings > System > Sound.

    • Under Input, select your preferred microphone and test the input level.

  • Camera:

    • Go to Settings > Privacy > Camera.

    • Ensure access to your camera is allowed for apps and the correct camera is selected.

For macOS:

  • Microphone:

    • Open System Preferences, then Sound.

    • Go to the Input tab, select your preferred microphone, and check the input level.

  • Camera:

    • Open System Preferences, then Security & Privacy.

    • Go to the Camera tab and ensure the app has access to your camera.

3. Perform the Audio and Video Test

  1. Return to the Assessment Page:

    • Click Start Mic Test for audio.

  2. Audio Test:

    • When prompted, say, “The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.”

  3. Video Test:

    • When prompted, ensure you are clearly visible and the video feed is working.

  4. Review the Results:

    • If the test fails, revisit the steps above to ensure both your audio and video settings are correctly configured.

Additional Tips

  • Ensure Browser and System Settings Match: Mismatched settings can cause both audio and video checks to fail.

  • Check for Updates: Make sure your browser and operating system are up to date for optimal performance.
