Overview

The candidate pre-test experience in WeCP is designed to prepare candidates calmly and clearly before they begin an assessment. The flow focuses on reducing anxiety, minimizing unnecessary steps, and ensuring required verification checks are completed without overwhelming the candidate.

This experience balances two goals:

  • Maintaining test integrity through verification and system checks

  • Creating a reassuring, human-first journey for candidates

Objective

The pre-test flow is designed to:

  • Reduce perceived effort before starting the test

  • Help candidates mentally prepare for the assessment

  • Introduce identity and liveness verification without increasing stress

  • Keep each step focused on a single, clear action

Candidates complete the entire pre-test flow in 3–4 steps, depending on the test configuration.

Pre-Test Flow Overview

Candidates move through the following steps before entering the test:

  1. System Check (includes verification)

  2. Greet Your Candidate (optional, appears only if enabled under “Candidate Experience”)

  3. Personal Details

  4. Test Guidelines

  5. Enter Test

Note: Identity verification appears as a separate step and only if the test configuration requires it.

Each step is purposefully ordered to build confidence and readiness.

Step 1: Landing Page (First Touch)

The landing page is the candidate’s first interaction with the assessment. It is designed to be minimal and focused, helping candidates get started without distraction.

Key characteristics:

  • Clean, AI-forward visual design

  • Single privacy policy agreement

  • Clear entry point into the pre-test flow

This page sets expectations without introducing unnecessary information.

Step 2: System Check

The system check validates readiness before any personal information is requested.

What happens during this step:

  • Device, browser, and network readiness are confirmed

  • Photo verification, liveness check, and ID verification are completed

  • A minimal progress indicator shows completion status

By consolidating these checks into a single step, candidates experience less friction and fewer interruptions.

Step 3: Greet Your Candidate

Candidates see a message from the recruiter immediately after the system check.

This step:

  • Provides context and reassurance

  • Helps candidates mentally prepare for the test

  • Adds a human touch through written or video messaging

Placing this step early in the flow increases its impact and reduces anxiety before candidates proceed further.

Step 4: Personal Details

Candidates are asked to provide personal details required for the assessment.

This step is designed to:

  • Focus attention on a single form

  • Reduce visual clutter

  • Maintain a natural flow following the recruiter’s message

The layout emphasizes clarity and ease of completion.

Step 5: Test Guidelines

Test guidelines are shown immediately before the candidate enters the test.

Guidelines are:

  • Concise and contextual

  • Limited to essential rules only

  • Easier to retain due to reduced repetition

This timing ensures candidates remember key rules without feeling overwhelmed.

Entering the Test

After reviewing the guidelines, candidates proceed directly into the assessment.

At this point, candidates:

  • Have completed all verification checks

  • Understand what is expected of them

  • Can begin the test with confidence

Why This Approach Works

The redesigned pre-test experience:

  • Lowers perceived effort before the test begins

  • Reduces candidate anxiety and drop-offs

  • Improves completion rates

  • Preserves test integrity without adding friction

By focusing on clarity, order, and empathy, the pre-test journey supports both candidates and hiring teams more effectively.
