How to Greet Candidates Before an Assessment

The Greet Candidates section lets recruiters and hiring managers add a short message that candidates see before starting an assessment. This message helps set expectations, share important instructions, and create a welcoming first impression.

A greeting can include:

  • Written instructions

  • A welcome video

  • Or both

What is Greet Candidates?

Greet Candidates is a pre-test greeting shown on the test instructions screen, just before a candidate begins the assessment.

It is designed to help candidates understand what to expect and feel prepared before they start. This section can be used to:

  • Welcome candidates and introduce the role or company

  • Explain the purpose of the assessment

  • Share rules, guidelines, or important instructions

  • Reassure candidates about timing or question formats

Why This Helps

Clear and friendly greetings:

  • Reduce candidate anxiety before starting the test

  • Minimize confusion and last-minute questions

  • Improve assessment completion rates

  • Reduce drop-offs caused by unclear expectations

Candidates who know what to expect are more likely to complete the assessment confidently and thoughtfully.

How to Add a Greet Candidates Message

  1. Log in to your WeCP Dashboard

  2. Go to Tests

  3. Select the test you want to edit

  4. Open the Integrity & Experience

  5. Find Greet Candidates under the Candidate Experience card

  6. Add a written message, a welcome video, or both

  7. Save your changes

The greeting will be shown to candidates before they begin the assessment.

Best Practices

  • Keep the message short and easy to understand

  • Use a friendly, professional tone

  • Clearly state what the candidate should expect

  • Avoid repeating information unless it is critical

  • If adding a video, keep it brief and focused

Using Greet Candidates helps create a smoother, more transparent assessment experience for candidates while improving engagement and completion rates for hiring teams.
